What Is Grey Water Recycling And What Are The Benefits?
Grey water is water that has come from your laundry and bathrooms and requires low treatment to make it suitable for many garden applications. It is not water produced by your toilets which are often referred to as black water. A grey water recycling system will treat the water so that it is suitable for reuse in your gardens through lilac coloured subsurface drippers, giving your gardens a year round water supply and keeping your gardens healthy and green even during summer water restrictions.

The Aquarius range of products is fully approved by the WA Department of Health.
Different Types of Aquarius Waste water recycling systems
Gecko Single Fixture Unit
The Gecko unit is fully approved by the WA Department of Health (WA DoH). It can be easily installed by a licensed Plumber at a cost of around $2,500.
Only the highest quality components are used in the manufacturing process, hence an extensive Manufacturer’s warranty of 24 months is provided to the unit and pump and 12 months to the irrigation and electrical components. The single fixture Gecko unit recycles the greywater from your laundry trough or a bathroom fixture for subsurface irrigation in your garden.
Greywater enters the unit from your fixture and is pumped out through a 40 Mesh Disc Filter which captures all the debris such as lint and hair. The disc filter is positioned outside the unit above ground for very easy maintenance. We recommend that the filter be cleaned weekly and will only take a couple minutes to clean. We also recommend a six monthly service by an authorised technician to ensure the system runs to its full capacity.

Grey Water Diversion System
The Grey water diversion unit is fully approved by the WA Department of Health (WA DoH). It can be easily installed by a licensed Plumber at a cost of around $6,500.
The grey water diversion system collects all the greywater from the household fixtures except the kitchen. The tank contains a Orange high quality stainless steel and cast iron pump which is float activated. When the float rises the greywater is pumped to a 25mm header pipe and then into a subsurface dripper system which waters the gardens. Only the highest quality components are used in the manufacturing process, hence an extensive Manufacturer’s warranty of 10 years on the tank, 2 years on the pump and 12 months to the irrigation and electrical components.
Sub surface dripper system coverage can be increased by installing additional dripper lines, valves and solenoids. Two separate filters and a flushing ball valve keep the system clear of debris such as lint and hair we recommend the filters are cleaned weekly and will only take a couple of minutes to clean. The system should also be serviced every six months by an authorised technician to keep the system running to its full capacity.

Alternative Treatment Units (ATU)
The complete range of ATUs treat all the waste water from the residential home or commercial sites. These applications are usually for areas where mains sewer connection isn’t available and are a substitute for septic tanks. The waste water (from toilets, kitchen, bathroom and laundry) is treated to current Department of Health WA Standards that allows it to be used for irrigation in garden beds, orchards, etc., or disposal into leach drains, soakwells and aquasafe drains. In addition the O-2NR and O-3 models further treat the water to reduce phosphorous and nitrogen and these two ATU models are classified as nutrient retentive which is essential in water catchment areas and environmental sensitive areas or to comply with some local shire requirements.
The O-3 ATU we believe to be the most environmentally friendly ATU on the market because it uses Ozone as the final disinfection process instead of chlorine. Ozone is many times more effective than chlorine and the by-product of Ozone is Oxygen.
ATUs are also available in concrete tanks if a trafficable location is required.
There is very little maintenance required with these systems however it is a council requirement that these systems be serviced by an authorised technician to ensure the system runs to its full capacity and is operating within the necessary parameters depending on the local council will depend on the frequency these services are required but it is usually every six months.
Only the highest quality components are used in the manufacturing process, hence an extensive Manufacturer’s warranty of 10 years on the tank, 12 months on the pumps and 12 months to the irrigation and electrical components. It can be easily installed by a licensed plumber costs vary depending on requirements but start at around $12,000.
